Thoraco-Lumbar Spinal Orthosis
A Thoraco-Lumbar Spinal Orthosis (TLSO) is a type of brace designed to provide support and limit motion in the thoracic, lumbar and sacral regions of the spine. The TLSO typically covers the torso from the chest to the pelvis and is made from rigid materials like plastic or metal for optimal positioning and stability. By stabilizing the spine, a TLSO helps reduce pain, improve posture, and aid in recovery during the healing process. TLSO are used post-traumatically to facilitate healing of spinal fractures, to correct and prevent the progression of scoliosis, and for pain relief in other conditions.
Lumbo-Sacral Orthosis
A Lumbo-Sacral Orthosis (LSO) is a supportive brace designed to stabilize the lower back, specifically the lumbar and sacral regions of the spine. It is often used to treat conditions such as lower back pain, fractures, sprains, post-surgical recovery, or lower back pain arising from pregnancy. The LSO typically consists of a rigid or semi-rigid structure, made from materials like plastic, foam, and fabric, and includes adjustable straps to increase the Intra-Abdominal Pressure and offload the painful areas of the spine. By limiting pathological positions in the lower spine, the LSO helps alleviate pain, promote healing, and prevent further injury while allowing for some mobility. It is commonly used for both short-term and long-term management of spinal conditions, aiding in daily activities and improving quality of life.
Sacroiliac orthosis
A sacroiliac belt is a medical device designed to provide support and stability to the sacroiliac (SI) joints, which connect the lower spine to the pelvis. This belt is commonly used to relieve pain and discomfort associated with SI joint dysfunction, pelvic instability, or compressed nerves. Made from adjustable materials, the sacroiliac belt fits around the hips and lower back, applying compression to stabilize the pelvis and reduce excessive movement of the SI joints. By promoting proper alignment and reducing strain, the belt helps alleviate pain and improve mobility.
